Ten down, sixteen to go...

  • Blue Moon with Heartache, Rosanne Cash. Soft, lightly scored, and sad.

  • Questions 67 and 68, Chicago. I'm not sure why this one appeals to me so much; I think the "Ooo-ooh" has something to do with it.

  • On the Border, Al Stewart. Another of Stewart's historicals; I think this one is about the Spanish Civil War, but I'm not absolutely sure.

  • You're Still The One, Shania Twain. The swirling melody of the chorus is the selling point here.

  • One by One, Enya. Measured, solemn, and beautiful.

  • Joy to the World, Three Dog Night. Glorious nonsense (and I always picture Jeremiah as Michigan J. Frog).

  • Summer in the City, the Lovin' Spoonful. Another classic, and all too apt this year in some respects...

  • When He Shines, Sheena Easton. My other favorite of hers, with a lovely chorus.

  • I'm Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band), the Moody Blues. "And when you see a frightened person who is frightened by the people who are scorching the Earth...": fast-paced and driving.

  • And When I Die, Blood, Sweat and Tears. Exuberant and sassy.

"Joy To The World" was my favorite song when I was 7. Given my first name, and that my maiden name was Morrow, I probably would've liked it, even if it hadn't been kicky and good dancing fun. [not as fun as "Wipe-Out" at the time, but still fun.]
