Apparently there are some doubters on the Riemann Hypothesis story; see Much Ado About Nothing. I'm not qualified to judge; analytic number theory isn't my cup of tea. de Branges does have a history of presenting purported proofs prematurely, but he also has a history of getting there eventually. If this one doesn't pan out, I'll still expect him to nail it within the next ten years.

But then, what do I know about it?
