Miscellany
Mar. 17th, 2006 05:13 pm1. I said there were five webcomics on my short list, but on reflection I've concluded that the fifth one really isn't in the same league as the other four, so I won't be doing a review. (If you're curious, number five was Evil Inc.)
2. Civilization IV definitely gets my seal of approval, but it's forced me to order more RAM. It'll run with 256M, but 512M is recommended. (My first computer, an Atari 1040ST, had one meg of RAM. The hard drive held 20M. Of course, that was almost twenty years ago.)
3. I hate office politics. I really do. But I'm caught in the middle of a just-arisen flap, and both choices have unappealing aspects.
4. A while ago I noticed that I bought more books last year than I read (unless you count rereads). This year, I've resolved not to make purchases unless I've read more (new reads only) than I've bought (not counting reference books). At the moment, I'm ahead - 15 new reads against 13 purchases. I'll be paying a visit to Amazon tonight or this weekend.
5. Since no-one on my FL seems to know anything about Whitney Duncan, I guess I'm going to have to make a blind jump. The song I mentioned was "My World Is Over", which she co-wrote with Graham Nash and Mike Post and sang with Kenny Rogers.
