Doggy Doors

A few minutes ago, I heard Murphy barking furiously. The barking had an echo-y quality: he was barking from inside the garage. This was something I hadn't heard him do before - usually he barks from the back yard, or at one of the windows inside - so I went to investigate.
He'd gotten hung up on the doggy door. The door has a dual flap: a large piece through which the dog jumps, and a framing piece that helps hold the door shut and improves insulation. He was inside the garage, but his hindquarters were stuck in the framing piece. He was not happy about this.
I think I'm going to have to cut the bottom of the frame, to keep this from happening again. (Imagine if this were to happen during one of my long days; he could be caught for hours.) Longer-term, I need to replace the doors. They've gotten pretty ragged, in any case. I wonder if there's any design out there that avoids this particular problem.
