Damn, damn, damn. I was supposed to be on campus today at 12:30 for a student's Senior Project presentation. Given the bus schedule, there's no way for me to get there before 2:00. I told them to go ahead with the presentation; I'll make my evaluation purely on the basis of the written work.

I need an appointment calendar, or something. Little electronic notes don't do me any good if they're on the other computer.

A prosthetic memory, that's the ticket. Anybody know where Cordelia got the one she gave Simon? (Anybody know of a more realistic alternative?)

Would a PDA and multiple cradles help? I know from experience that I can sync my PalmOS device to two different computers - I see no reason I couldn't sync to three or four.

That's the likeliest answer, yes. Maybe I'll go shopping while I'm in California this month.

I use the cell phone's calendar/notes and alarm function, and set it well ahead.

Doesn't help me when I forget the cell phone at home or when I forget to recharge the battery, but I'm getting better at remembering those things. (I suppose that's an effect of just having _had_ a cell phone for the last year and a half, I held out as long as I could)

But there's a better chance I remember the phone than any sort of calendar, which I tend to buy every Christmas, leave at home all January and cease to use in February.

I'm still holding out.

Well, you _definitely_ have my admiration for that.

I hate the phone (it doesn't even have a GPS - that I could accept), but it was impossible to get work without it and it does have some sort of security value when one is out hunting or fishing.

Hell would freeze over before I got a microwave oven, dishwashing machine or an answering machine, though.

Mm. I think I'm about to forfeit that admiration: I have all three.

It is a result of a technophobic upbringing. ,-)

Seriously, no one in my immediate family has a microwave oven. Or a dishwasher. My sister has an answering machine I bought for her pre-commanded some christmas, but I doubt she ever listens to messages on it. It is all items I've never learned to appreciate.

Good for you. So am I.

I have a paper calendar at home, and a Yahoo calendar that's accessible from any computer with internet access.

calendar.yahoo.com

It's a lifesaver when you work on call -- my multiple bosses all check it to see if I'm already busy before they try to call me.

AHA! That's it! Well, not that, but something like it: backdated Private-level LJ entries! I look in on my LJ often enough that that will keep me up-to-date. Thanks for the idea!

Glad to be of service...

I'd be dead meat without my yahoo calendar.
