stoutfellowI've seen my first snow of the season; it's flurrying outside right now. (Apparently there've been several flurries in the past few days, but I didn't see them. There was snow on the wrapper of the newspaper this morning, though.)
I see that the Padres have (apparently) re-signed Brian Giles. That's good; of the three major free agents they have, he is probably the most important. Ramon Hernandez seems to be a lost cause; I'm not sure how I feel about that. Miguel Olivo performed pretty well while Hernandez was out, but he doesn't have much of a track record, and Hernandez is a damn good catcher. As for Trevor Hoffman, well, Tim Sullivan seems to think there's still a chance of re-signing him, but even if they lose him it won't worry me too much. Hoffman is still very good, but he is getting long in the tooth, and he's not performing as well as he once did. I'd be comfortable with Linebrink or Otsuka taking over the closer's job.
I've got to stop taking naps on the couch; I have the oddest dreams. This morning, I dreamed I was watching the filming of a Veronica Mars episode and making mental notes for a LiveJournal entry, in which I would urge people to pay close attention to the performance of a certain actress - an actress who is not, in fact, in the cast, and who quite likely doesn't exist.
Things like this never happen to me. On the whole, I think I'm glad.
