I am, of course, disappointed by the swift exit of the Padres, but not much so; I wasn't really expecting them to get past St. Louis. The defeat of the Red Sox is rather more upsetting, but at least they fell to the White Sox rather than to the Yankees.
In any case, I am pleased by other things: that the Evil Blue Empire didn't make the playoffs; that Atlanta has been beaten, as of today, by the Astros (sorry,
filkferengi, but any team which claims to be "America's Team" without actually, y'know, representing the whole country earns my undying enmity. The Cowboys are in the same boat.); and that the Yankees are hanging by a thread against the Angels.
[The Padres and Red Sox are my favorite NL and AL teams respectively, but I have some affection for the Cardinals, White Sox, Astros, and Angels - all, coincidentally, in the playoffs - as well. The Dodgers (ptui!), Yankees, and Braves bring up the rear.]
