Went through that about three years ago.
Time to clear up can vary from a few weeks to a few months. You can end up with mild long-term weakness on the side of the face affected.
I was lucky in that my eye would stay closed if I lay on the hat side, so I didn't need tape to keep from drying out at night.
My sympathies.
