Note: The Four Tops was next up, but contains only three songs not on the previously-reviewed Best of the Four Tops, so I'm skipping it. This album has five songs not on the three-disk Best of Gene Pitney, which I think is enough.

Album Title: Gene Pitney Sings World-Wide Winners

What I Like (Kinda Silly): "Garden of Love". A love song replete with floral metaphors, including puns ("And her tu-lips are much too much for me"). Fun to listen to, though not exactly meaty. Honorable Mention: "Mr. Moon, Mr. Cupid and I", a semi-serious invocation of the deities in aid of a would-be lover.

What I Like (Vows): "Tower Tall". A plaintive-sounding song of love, promises of better things, and the denial of the need for them. It seems not to have been much of a hit, but I like it. A distant cousin to songs like "Down in the Boondocks".

Overall: The other songs here that aren't on Best of... are "Half Heaven, Half Heartache" (what it sounds like) and "Louisiana Mama" (about a distant love; he did this more than once, with, e.g., "Hawaii"). It also includes, among others, some of his signature songs: "Town Without Pity", "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance", and "Hello Mary Lou". A pretty good album, though it's not my favorite of his.
