stoutfellowI had to go onto campus today for a committee meeting. (It was mercifully short - less than half an hour - and the committee chair apologized to us for summoning us in on such a dreadful day.) I left home at 12:30. The air outside smelled like the exhaust from a clothes dryer.
On the return trip, I had to stop at Shop'n'Save to pick up some groceries; in the midst of this heat, I'd been putting off going, and quite a number of staples - notably including drinkables - needed replenishing. Two bags of groceries, four blocks in this weather, and only two points in between with any kind of shade....
The heat advisory has been upgraded to an excessive heat warning, still lasting until Sunday evening. Fortunately, I've got enough of everything, so I can stay inside until then. NWS is predicting possible boomers on Monday, which will drop the highs back into double digits F.
I have ice cream. Lots of ice cream.
