Album Title: The Best of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell

Why I Bought It: I already had, and much liked, their "Your Precious Love", and decided to see what else they did together.

What I Like (Sweet and Soaring): "Your Precious Love". Just a beautiful duet; the contrast in their voices resembles that in the Rogers/Easton "We've Got Tonight", although this one is much more upbeat.

What I Like (If You Love Someone Set Them Free): "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". I prefer Diana Ross' version, but mainly for the spoken bit at the climax; the singing here is just as good.

Overall: This album is kind of one-note, as far as content is concerned, but the two principal voices work well together. I'd compare it to my album of Ella Fitzgerald/Louis Armstrong duets; Tammi's voice is sweeter and less brassy than Ella's, and Marvin's voice doesn't have Louis' gravel, but they play off each other well. I tune out and just enjoy the sound of this one, mostly.
