Groundhog Day

stoutfellowThis morning, when I woke up, I got out of bed and went to the window. I saw a tornado bearing down on us from the north. I screamed the dogs' names and raced to the basement. As I hit the base of the stairs, one of the basement windows exploded....
Then I came to myself. I was still in bed. I got out of bed and went to the window. I saw a tornado....
Cripes. I swear I ran through that pattern four or five times, with minor variations, before I finally woke up for good.
Tornadoes have featured prominently in my nightmares for years. (Before that, it was volcanoes, inspired by reading an article about the Parícutin volcano in Mexico.) I don't recall ever being trapped in a loop like that, though.
