stoutfellowA couple of days ago, I paid off some bills. I remember the style of postage stamp I put on them, and my records indicate which checks I used to pay them.
Today, I returned to that activity. I cannot find the stamps that I was using, though I am quite sure that there were quite a few left. Nor can I find the checks that I was using; the checks which come to hand are numbered about 15 downsequence from those.
I have additional checks, and additional stamps. But I cannot conceive where the previous batch of each has gone to. I've looked in all the obvious places. I even emptied the waste basket next to my desk, to no avail.
My den is haunted, I tell you.
