Heh, there is the associated problem when they decide that books also make adequate shoe/bone/chew substitutes.

Murphy did that, in his puppyhood. Fortunately, he only destroyed two books; the rest suffered some binding damage but otherwise remained intact. Neither of the current two seems prone to chewing what should not be chewed.
