The university's closed today, thanks to the weather. It actually doesn't look too bad out there just now; there's a fair amount of snow, yes, but the streets are clear. Unfortunately, there's another wave of snow and sleet entering the metro area from the northwest, and it'll be here soon enough.
I have to make a grocery run sometime today. The Severe Weather Alert is due to expire at 6 PM; I may hold off until then.
Both of my classes this semester only meet twice a week. Losing a day to holidays or weather is a significant cost. That's especially so in the (Tuesday-Thursday) differential geometry class; some of the nicest results, like the Gauss-Bonnet theorem, come at the very end of the class, and it's a struggle to get through the preparatory material. Today's storm won't help.
Addendum: The alert has now been extended till midnight. Let's see, what do I have in the fridge?
