Today was the feast day of St. Barbara, who is - among many other things - the patron saint of mathematicians. (Basically, she's the patron saint of things that go boom; I guess we got in via the early study of ballistics.)

I did my undergraduate work at UC Santa Barbara.

I wish I'd known about this earlier today - I'd have celebrated somehow - but I didn't find out until around 7 PM.

I'll have to mark my calendar for next year.

Did you do anything special on your patroness's feast day when you were at UCSB? St. Clare's day is in August so we couldn't do anything back in my Santa Clara days.

Well, no. And that's odd; UC Santa Barbarians are such a party crowd that you'd think they'd grab any excuse....
