That's Better...

The geometry course I'm teaching is titled "Foundations for Euclidean and Non-Euclidean Geometry". The textbook handles the subject in an interesting way: it begins with Euclid's postulates, points out the problems with them, and then, over the course of several chapters, repairs them. At the end of the process, we have an adequate axiom system for Euclidean geometry. (The book then goes on to axiom systems for the two major varieties of non-Euclidean geometry.) It takes a while, therefore, before the proofs in the book become fully rigorous, but I think that pedagogically it's a neat idea. I really like this text. (Of course, I still don't have my own copy. Next week, maybe?)
In unrelated news, my Inner Minstrel is currently singing a conflation of "Juke Box Hero" (Foreigner) and "Storm Front" (Billy Joel). Neither is among my favorite songs...
