Scheduling Problem

In order to deal with Murphy's skin condition, I've been giving him baths with a special shampoo three times a week - Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday. The last time we went to the vet, she told me I could cut back to twice a week, as long as the supplies lasted.

The thing is, I think Murphy liked those baths; in lathering him up, I gave him pretty good back rubs - good enough to get his hind leg thumping. (Of course, this also caused him to fall down, what with the weakness of his hind legs and the fact that he was standing in a wet bathtub.)

He's been following me around all evening. I think he wants his bath.

Is it perhaps possible to do the backrub part of the schedule without having to get wet in the bathtub?

A dog wanting a bath. This may be a first in the history of caninity.

When we lived in Texas, one of our two Doberman puppies had a skin infection. So every evening I would wash him in the garage with his vet prescribed, medicated shampoo. Then I had to wash his brother who seemed to feel left out when Teddy was in the tub, and insisted on his own bath. I didn't use the expensive shampoo for Falstaff. They were still quite young, so I was only having to lift thirty pounds of puppy in and out of the wash tub at a time.

Murphy weighs a little over fifty pounds. Getting him into the tub is not much of a problem, but leverage presents difficulties getting him back out.

Ben does seem to lurk outside the bathroom door when Murphy's getting his baths. (And, come to think of it, he needs a bath - a regular one - too.)

I plopped Falstaff into the tub the first time figuring that would keep him out from under foot while I was bathing Teddy. It didn't work.
