One Week In
Jul. 12th, 2019 08:29 pmWell, I've survived the first week of class.
The class meets at 8:25 AM, and continues until 10:50. Thanks to the vagaries of the bus schedule, I have to leave the house at about 7:00 AM. This summer, I've gotten into the habit of getting up around 3 AM, having a bite to eat, websurfing for a while, and then going back to bed, before getting up for good around 6 AM or so. That's not good enough, not if I'm going to shower, shave, dress, and otherwise prepare for the day's labor. I have to adjust my habits, and I'm slowly doing so, but until I get it right there's a danger of falling asleep on the bus, either of two, which would screw things up royally.
There are other nuisances with this schedule, as well, and prep problems - I haven't taught the course in quite a while, there's a new textbook, and preparing enough material for a 2.5 hour lecture is troublesome.
Also, the food shop inside the University Center isn't currently stocking the submarine sandwiches I like to buy for lunch - they won't have them again until next month. I'm making do with other, less tasty substitutes. (Yes, I could make myself sandwiches of my own, if not for the time warp I mentioned above. I'm lucky to be able to fix a bowl of cereal and a cup of coffee.)
Foo. But I will survive.
