Waiting

Gracie has had a recurring eye infection for some time. I thought we had it licked a couple of months ago, but it's come back. Her right eye is crusted over. I took her over to the vet this morning, and they told me they'd have to sedate her to get the crust off - she was wiggling enough that the process was hurting her. The whole thing was going to take long enough that they suggested I go home, and they'll call me when she's ready.

So I'm sitting here waiting for the phone call, which is likely not to come for another couple of hours. I just hope we can fix this thing for good before mid-December, when I'm hoping to fly out to California. If it isn't fixed, I'll have to stay here.

The End of Waiting

I got the call about an hour ago, and have been to and from the vet. Gracie looks much better; they gave me some eyedrops for the next week and recommended OTC eyedrops for a week or two after that. I told the vet about the possible vacation problem, and she told me that there's a tech at the animal hospital who frequently petsits for pets who need medication, so *that's* all right.

There's a dog park across from the animal hospital - I think they run it - and there were about half a dozen dogs there, sniffing around and playing. As we passed, all of them rushed the fence and barked at us.

And, when I got home, I discovered that I didn't have Gracie's collar. I called over, and they have it; I can pick it up any time. Today, though, I've made that two-miles-each-way trek four times (there and back, there and back), and I'm done. I'll probably go pick it up tomorrow or Monday.
