Big Fish, Small Fish
Sep. 26th, 2015 06:31 pmA discussion over on File 770 led me, circuitously, to the following thought.
In the original X-Men, the Beast was the heavy hitter - the team's Tank, in gamer terms. After the team broke up, he went solo and became even more powerful (although less human-looking). Then he joined the Avengers - where he was a B-lister. I'm not sure that's a step up.
(The prompt for this was a mention of Fabian Stankowitz, originally a schlep with a grudge against Marvel Comics' Avengers. After three rather pathetic attempts to wreak vengeance, he decided to go after the second-stringers, who were appearing on the David Letterman Show. He was defeated again... by Letterman, wielding a giant doorknob. The Avengers involved were, as I recall, Hawkeye, Mockingbird, the Beast, and one other - can't recall who now.)
