I still buy my music in album-sized chunks. The biggest reason for this is that, if I like a song by a particular group, buying an album containing that song may introduce me to other songs, which I've never heard of, that I will also like. For this to work, I really have to focus on ordinary albums, not "Greatest Hits" or "Gold" or what have you.

Nonetheless, I also like to buy albums of the latter type, or "Complete" albums, or the like.

I'm listening to a justification for the latter: The Complete Original Dunhill/ABC Hit Singles, by the Grass Roots. If, a year ago, you'd asked me to name a group I wanted music from but didn't have, the Grass Roots would not have come up. Nonetheless, after being reminded of one of their songs, I bought this album.

It's mostly because it's a walk down Nostalgia Lane, but dayum, I like this album.

"I'd Wait a Million Years".
"Midnight Confessions".
"The River Is Wide".
"Sooner or Later".
"Temptation Eyes".
"Two Divided by Love".
"Walking Through the Country".
"Where Were You When I Needed You".

and the one from this album I like best: "Let's Live for Today". One Two Three Four!

Mmm.

The people who mow my lawn have my permission to go into the fenced back yard to mow that area. I have tried to make it clear to them that the back gate needs to be firmly latched when they leave, but once in a while, they forget....

This evening, Buster and Gracie came to me begging for their evening romp. I led them over to the back porch, let them out - and saw that the gate was wide open. Both dogs made a beeline for it. I was, um, not dressed to follow suit.

I raced back into the house, pulled on some pants and grabbed a leash, then went chasing after them. Several cars slowed or stopped, probably to avoid possible collisions but possibly in the hopes of attracting their attention. To no avail; but about halfway down the next block, a couple of my neighbors were out on their driveway, and they called Gracie to them. I called to them to hold her while I went after Buster. He saw the leash in my hand and came trotting back to me; I attached the leash, turned to go collect Gracie, and completely lost my balance. One of those times when your mind goes slo-mo as your body tumbles out of control.... I smacked into the driveway, left knee and both palms, and rolled over, having let go of the leash. One of the neighbors caught it, fortunately, before Buster could take off again. They asked if I was all right, and of course I said I was, but I think I'm looking at a knee bruise and a palm abrasion.

Anyway, with Buster on leash and Gracie under my arm, I limped back home and got them inside. They were very excited (and pant-y) after their expedition, so I gave them treats. Who's going to give me one?

:pouts:

(Oh: I closed and latched the gate before going into full pursuit. Slowed me down a little, but sometimes it's a good idea to close the gate after the beasts escape....)

One of these days, people will realize that it's not a good idea to kidnap Agatha Heterodyne, don't you think?
