Grass Roots
Aug. 10th, 2015 03:49 pmI still buy my music in album-sized chunks. The biggest reason for this is that, if I like a song by a particular group, buying an album containing that song may introduce me to other songs, which I've never heard of, that I will also like. For this to work, I really have to focus on ordinary albums, not "Greatest Hits" or "Gold" or what have you.
Nonetheless, I also like to buy albums of the latter type, or "Complete" albums, or the like.
I'm listening to a justification for the latter: The Complete Original Dunhill/ABC Hit Singles, by the Grass Roots. If, a year ago, you'd asked me to name a group I wanted music from but didn't have, the Grass Roots would not have come up. Nonetheless, after being reminded of one of their songs, I bought this album.
It's mostly because it's a walk down Nostalgia Lane, but dayum, I like this album.
"I'd Wait a Million Years".
"Midnight Confessions".
"The River Is Wide".
"Sooner or Later".
"Temptation Eyes".
"Two Divided by Love".
"Walking Through the Country".
"Where Were You When I Needed You".
and the one from this album I like best: "Let's Live for Today". One Two Three Four!
Mmm.
