I have to admit being nonplussed by the fact that, for fans of the San Diego Padres, the number one hero at the moment is A. J. Preller - the GM.
I don't recall "Trader Jack" McKeon getting this kind of adulation back in the day. Of course, even in his best off-season, he didn't execute the kind of roster overhaul Preller has.
I like the Shields signing, and for the most part I like the trades AJP's pulled off. I'm still wistful about Trea Turner (but he was years off at best) and Jesse Hahn (but, even without him, the rotation and bullpen are both stronger than last year).
Should be an exciting year.
