I see that Corey Kluber won the AL Cy Young award this year. It turns out that Kluber was once a Padres farmhand. The Padres shipped him to Cleveland as part of a three-team deal; St. Louis was the third team. In exchange, the Padres got... Ryan Ludwick.
In his brief career with the Padres - parts of two seasons - Ludwick provided them with -0.9 WAR. His offense was pathetic, and his defense was worse.
It wasn't the worst deal the Padres have ever made, but it's definitely up there.
