Moving Day
Dec. 17th, 2013 05:28 pmWednesday is the deadline - the day the movers will invade the department and carry off our office belongings to our new home in the athletic center. I spent part of yesterday and much of today packing books and papers into boxes, disposing of all sorts of miscellaneous trash, and - at the last - putting my knick-knacks and keepsakes into another box and carrying it over to my office-to-be. I found an old radio, a pair of sneakers, a tennis racket, a pair of glasses (that actually work for me), a decade-old bag of coffee beans (sob - and they were good ones, Ethiopian Harrar), and an assortment of other surprises. By the end of it, I was thoroughly sweaty (on a day in mid-December, in the Frost Belt) and ready to go home and fall into bed. I handed in my key, wished various people Merry Christmas (I won't be going in tomorrow, and I'm leaving for SoCal on Thursday), and headed home. I had to pick up enough food for the next two days at Shop'n'Save, of course....
Now that I'm home, I'm weary but not at all sleepy. A shower is probably called for before bed, but I doubt I'll crash before 8 or 9. (It's about 5:30 now.)
Woof. Glad that's taken care of.
