Today, I went over to the local Petco and bought a pet stroller. They only had two on the floor - or rather, two on a very high shelf, which Manute Bol would have had difficulty reaching, let alone 5'5" me. I corraled an employee and had him get down the pre-assembled one. (I'd rather roll it home than carry it.) Aside from a slight problem with responsiveness (probably due to its unloaded state), it gave me no trouble on the way home.
Now comes the hard part: convincing Gracie that it's a nice place to be. I put Buster in without difficulty, but as I suspected he's a bit too big for it. When I reached for Gracie, of course she bolted for the undercouch. But it was about time for Buster to take his medicine, all wrapped up in a nice ball of peanut butter, and I've been giving Gracie some PB at the same time, so it was no problem luring her into the kitchen, blocking her escape routes, and scooping her up. I put a treat, liberally smeared with PB, into the stroller, then gently lowered Gracie in. She immediately gobbled it down, and remained in the stroller uncomplaining for a short time.
Her appointment is on Tuesday, so I'll have four more chances to accustom her to the stroller (two times each, the next two days). I think this is going to work.
