Two Incidents
Sep. 28th, 2012 05:12 pm1. Today, as I was walking home from the bus stop, I reached the one bottleneck on the route, where an access road from the mall spills onto a well-trafficked cross street. As often happens, there were quite a few cars (and one bus) moving in various directions, so I (and my two bags of groceries) paused and settled to wait. In the lane across from me, though, one driver stopped, clearly inviting me to cross. I waited for the other lane to clear, then trotted across, nodding my thanks. As she drove on, I glanced after her and noticed her license plate: G KAR 5.
There are, no doubt, many possible explanations, but I choose to believe (in the light of her freely offered courtesy) that she chose it in honor of the greatest of the Narns.
2. When I come home, my route takes me past the back yard first; I usually circle around to the front, but in urgent situations I come in the back way. Today, to my surprise, both dogs were in the back yard, and the sight of me evoked much excitement. I decided to come in that way, and was surrounded by bouncing dogs as I entered the house. (Ben always, and Murphy often, greeted me from in back, but Buster and Gracie are much more indoor dogs. I don't recall either of them being in the yard when I came home before. Here's hoping for recurrence.)
