A Load off My... Mind
Mar. 24th, 2012 05:09 pmAh, spring, when a middle-aged man's fancy turns to summertime comfort....
Today was shearing day. Actually, it's been warm enough for a couple of weeks, but assorted obligations and the occasional rainstorm have prevented me from getting over to Custom Cuts until today. I wasn't sure that they were even open on Saturdays, so I didn't shave my beard before going to look. The shearing was uneventful, with the usual sorts of comments from the stylist. Afterward, since I was only a couple of doors away from Schnuck's, I went over there to pick up a few items that they carry and Shop'n'Save doesn't - a package of smoked Gouda (delicious!), and a couple of pints of Ben & Jerry's. At the checkout, the bagger commented on my beard - I suppose, without the shoulder-length hair, it stood out even more. I had to tell him it wouldn't last more than another hour.... (I've had four strangers comment on my beard in the last month.)
Fortunately, the blade in my razor, which I hadn't used since October, was fresh - I'd only used it once or twice - and the shave went remarkably smoothly. I'll probably have to slot in a new blade tomorrow, though.
Maybe the new face will help me shake this lethargy....
