Sunday Music: Abraxas, Santana
Dec. 4th, 2011 03:51 pmAlbum Title: Abraxas, Santana.
Why I Bought It: This was a Christmas gift from one of my nieces, part of a three-CD set. (It was one of the items on the wish-list I had provided.)
What I Like (Toe-Tapping): "Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen". There are actually two versions of this on the album, one live and one studio. They're both good. Honorable Mention: "Oye Como Va".
What I Like (Languid): "Samba Pa Ti". This is a pure instrumental, with gentle percussion underlying twanging strings.
Overall: I don't have a lot to say about this album. Mostly it's comfortable background music. More than half of the songs are pure instrumentals, and for some reason I have a harder time tying their sound to their titles. It's a pleasant album.
