Nov. 30th, 2011 07:59 pmThis is probably the dumbest thing to be bugged by I've ever been... bugged by, but they're tampering with my childhood.
When I was a kid, Jughead Jones (Archie) was notable for several things: his appetite; his strange and tilted crownlike hat; and the fact that he never opened his eyes. There was even one story devoted to the time that he tried opening them, and was nearly blinded, staggering around like a drunkard and nearly getting run over before his friends persuaded him to shut them again.
I have not read Archie in many years. However, I do read the Comics Curmudgeon, and Archie is a frequent target; and it has become clear that Juggie has changed. His eyes are like anyone else's nowadays. (Haven't seen him with one of those monster sandwiches lately either.) Henry speaking, Sluggo with a mohawk, Major Hoople sans fez, Lotta Plump on a diet, Scrooge McDuck taking up monkhood....
And GET OFF MY LAWN!
