Bad and Worse
Dec. 13th, 2010 07:48 pmI have suggested, several times, that grading tests is the worst part of this job. This is not true.
Worse is this: when, after the final, a student approaches and asks if there's anything more s/he can do to boost his/her grade. (This happened twice today.) Worse still is when the student is clearly on the brink of tears. (This happened once.) I count it a victory when the tears do not fall. Whose victory, of course, is open to question.
