The semester has come to a close. I finished grading and submitted the grades yesterday. (I was on campus because it was my turn to represent the department at Convocation.) There's a committee meeting tomorrow, at which - one hopes - the current departmental kerfuffle will come to a close. After that, I'm pretty much off for the summer.
I won't be entirely free of responsibilities. This year, I'm chair of the departmental Policy Committee, and there are various issues which that committee will have to deal with - hopefully, less contentious than the last one! Also, our research group will be trying to get some of our work written up and submitted. We've got material for two papers already; our student assistant L. will be writing up his work on dodecahedra for one of the undergraduate journals; I need to write the algorithms to finish off the theorem I discovered last week (and that will be another paper); and L. has begun looking at another polyhedron, the "cuboctahedron", which may net us yet another. Also, there are a couple of other projects I need to write up.
Then there are things I want to do around the house. The hot water heater probably needs replacing; once that's done, I can tackle the basement remodeling. Somewhere in between, I need to find someone to keep an eye on the dogs over Father's Day weekend, when I'll be flying out to California for the annual Father's Day / Dad's birthday celebration. Also, continuing to work on the library database.
Dang. Here I was thinking I could rest....
