Unscheduled Day Off
Mar. 16th, 2010 12:09 pmI was planning on going in to work today, even though I don't have any classes. I really was. (There's plenty enough that I need to do besides class work.) But....
There's a theorem I've been moderately sure of for some months now, but couldn't prove until this past weekend. It isn't the real breakthrough we need, but it does have some useful consequences. I've been applying it to various specific examples, and getting nice results from it.
So why didn't I go to work today? Because I got very little sleep last night: I couldn't stop trying to work examples in my head. I've been wandering around in a fog all morning. (I did take the dogs for a walk and make a grocery run, but both trips were virtually on autopilot.)
I've still got to get some work done today; I'll just have to do it at home.
Tangential, but related to the fact that I'm at home today: I wish that Dale Carnegie had never written that damned book. (I really don't like door-to-door solicitations.)
