Crosby, Stills, and Nash
Jul. 2nd, 2009 06:10 pmA while back I complained that the version of "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" that I had (from the 4 Way Street album) was only 33 seconds long. Prompted by various responses, I finally got hold of an album with the full-length version.
I'm not going to do a full-blown review of the album. I just want to say that it contains some of the nicest music in my collection. I know that "nice" is often used as a mild pejorative nowadays, but that's not at all what I mean. I'm talking about the bright and bouncy "Marrakesh Express"; about "Southern Cross", which almost makes me want to buy a boat and sail away into tropical waters; about the pensive "Just a Song Before I Go", and the domestic and happy "Our House". (Not to mention, of course, S:JBE....)
Yeah, they're oldies, and maybe they'd only draw this kind of reaction from a fogey like me, but this album just makes me happy.
