My sister C is in town; she and her husband are visiting his father, who lives not far from here. This morning we got together for breakfast. We ate at Sgt. Pepper's Cafe. (
filkferengi and
mbernardi, you might remember the place; we had breakfast there once, during or just before TuckerCon.) It was just as good as I remembered. We had a good chat, and then headed over to campus so I could show her my office. ("Is it as neat as your house is?" :eyeroll: "Just about...") I introduced her to the department secretary; they quickly bonded over my obvious need to be managed. (I've been C's "baby brother" for more than half a century now, and I figure I always will be.)
She also met Buster and Gracie, who greeted her almost as enthusiastically as they greet me - Gracie leaping and wriggling, Buster a tiny bit more diffident but still extremely friendly.
It's an odd coincidence that I wound up here, within spitting distance of my brother-in-law's home, but I'm glad of it, since it allows for these little visits every so often. I see the family at the holidays, most years, but it's nice to meet them on my own turf once in a while.
