Hidey-holes
Mar. 22nd, 2009 03:37 pmGracie has found her safe place, for when the world gets to be too much. Whether it be importunate dogs or crabby humans, all she has to do is crawl into the little space under the bed, between the wall and the box of - whatever that is down there. (I think it's extra leaves for the dining room table, but I'm not sure.) It's directly under my pillow.
Unfortunately, she doesn't just relax in there. She barks, and growls, and makes all kinds of noise. Once or twice I've gotten down on my knees and coaxed her out, just for a little peace.
Buster is so polite; if I'm on the bed (and especially if Gracie is also on the bed), he'll sit nearby and not jump up until invited by name. If I'm not on the bed, he has no such compunctions; I've frequently found him curled up on my pillow. This morning, I found him curled up under my pillow; apparently he'd just burrowed in.
Gracie, of course, doesn't wait to be invited.
Unrelated Addendum: Singing along to "Sweet Caroline" while holding an excitable terrier in your lap is not a good idea. (Or any other song, probably. Maybe "M'na m'na"....)
