Some time back, the overhead fluorescents in my kitchen gave up the ghost. After making shift in various ways for a while, I decided to take advantage of the current nice weather, and trotted down to Sears Hardware. I had jotted down everything that was written on one of the old bulbs; of course, this did me no good, as they didn't carry that brand. After consultations with three different salesfolk, I selected a pair and headed home, bulbs over my shoulder like a rifle.
It took a certain amount of effort, supplemented by trial-and-error, eyeballing, and contemplation of shapes, but I once again have adequate lighting in the kitchen.
I am sufficiently unhandy, not to mention ignorant, that this leaves me with an unreasonable feeling of satisfaction.
