Good People

One of the committee meetings that I bailed on last Friday was rescheduled for yesterday. In between our discussion of textbooks for our History of Mathematics classes, the other committee members asked how Ben was doing. (I'd mentioned his problems in my earlier message of apology.) I told them about Ben and his situation, and about Murphy. Then I mentioned my plan to go to the Humane Society in spring to pick out a puppy or two. One of them immediately shook her head and said, "You've got to get two. They need each other." Then - unprompted - she offered to give me a ride to the Society when the time came.

People will surprise you sometimes.
