Something odd is happening.

The last couple of days, my (Firefox) browser has been having difficulty picking up some - but not all - graphic images. Sometimes I get the "broken image" glyph; other times, the title of the image that's supposed to be there; still other times, nothing at all.

The disgruntling thing is that it's hitting a number of the webcomics I regularly read. It's erratic in some cases, sometimes allowing access and sometimes not - "Catharsis", "Dominic Deegan", "Narbonic", "Schlock Mercenary", "Sluggy Freelance"; in others, it's only the (one or more) most recent strips that I can't access  - "Flaky Pastry", "Terinu", "Girl Genius (Advanced)" (but not "101"), "Anywhere But Here", "Ozy and Millie", "Evil Inc", "Unshelved". There are also a lot of strips that aren't affected at all. I don't see any common factor: the number of strips I can't get is variable; so is how far back in time the blockage persists; and comics on the same webhost may behave differently (as with GG).

Some LJ icons are also affected. My "My LJ" page looks wonky, and I'm getting a lot of unexpected 404s. (I can't access the San Diego Union-Tribune's webpage, among others.) These may be unconnected, but they all seem to have started at about the same time.

I'll tell you, if I don't see what Klaus does next on GG-Advanced tomorrow, I'm going to be very upset.

Addendum: Add "A Softer World" and "Irregular Webcomic" to the list of affected comics. I'm also failing to pick up some embedded pictures at Ex Patria and elsewhere.

Addendum 2: I can, after all, access the U-T's webpage home; I can't get to their Padres page - though the Chargers are accessible. This is confusing.

Addendum 3: Fixed! Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] sraun!
