Miscellany

Since visiting the doctor on Wednesday, I've been treating my ear infection with oral antibiotics and eardrops. There's no noticeable improvement yet, except perhaps that it hasn't been hurting, but it's supposed to be a one-week course of treatment, so I'm not concerned. On the other hand, the eardrops seem to have, at least temporarily, worsened the "underwater" quality of my hearing in that ear. (At one point today, answering a phone call, I put the receiver to my left ear. Mistake; I could hear that the other person was talking, but couldn't make out the words. I switched ears and there was brief hilarity before I finally hit the reset button by saying "Hello?" again.)

I took Murphy in to the vet for dental work today; I'll be picking him up around 8:00 tonight. A little while ago, the vet called me to let me know that they were going to have to extract his lower left canine. The lower canines are the teeth that keep a dog's tongue in its mouth, so from now on Murphy's going to have a little trouble with that. Well, it had to come out, so... Poor fella.

Meanwhile, another package from Amazon has arrived. Contents: The Sharing Knife: Beguilement, by LMB; The Grand Tour, by Wrede and Stevermer; Julia Spencer-Fleming's All Mortal Flesh; and Caprice and Rondo by Dorothy Dunnett, the last volume of the House of Niccolo series. I'm dithering over which one to read first; the Bujold and the Spencer-Fleming are the leading contenders.

I'm just glad it's the weekend...
