Falling Free
Aug. 5th, 2006 08:55 amHaving solicited suggestions on nineteenth-century literature, I've temporarily shelved them in favor of reading Lewis Carroll: Complete Works. (Note that this is not Dodgson's complete works; e.g., his treatise on determinants is not included...) I'm currently reading "Sylvie and Bruno", where I ran across the following passage, which struck me as... hmm, not prescient, exactly, but unexpected in a story published in 1889.

More Door?

I see one more step I can take: expand the outer doggie door the same way I did the inner one. (He does seem to have trouble making even the small hop the outer door demands. He can do it, but he'll gather himself, make false starts, retreat and look beseechingly at me...) If that doesn't work, I'm at a loss.
Lately he seems to have taken to coming to let me know that he's pooped in the house. Maybe he's trying to help...
