Almost Home
May. 4th, 2006 09:11 pmThe History of Math finals have been graded and overall grades computed; one of my Senior Assignment students presented today (but will have to make major revisions to his paper); the Differential Geometry finals are waiting in my briefcase, and I'll grade them tomorrow, along with viewing the presentation by my other SA student. (I'm also scheduled to meet with yet another student, who plans to make her presentation during the summer.)
I always tell my students that, if they want quick word on their grades, they should put an e-mail address on their tests; most of them do, and so I spent a fair chunk of time yesterday firing off notices. One of my History of Math students sent back a nice compliment, expressing appreciation for the enthusiasm with which I taught the course. Always nice to hear, especially from a student who no longer has any reason to butter me up.
I won't be teaching officially this summer - in particular, I won't be on the payroll - but I will be working with several students on one project or another. I also have a couple of papers that I need to finish; one of them exists in draft form, but I'm not happy with it. I think, though, that I know how I want to rewrite it, and that shouldn't take more than a week or so. The other... I've outlined it, but it still feels rather shapeless to me. That one's going to be tough.
Ah, well. At least I'll have more time and energy for writing this summer. I hope...
