Hilzoy has a nice post on (all too rare) good news from Africa: Nigeria has agreed to extradite the infamous Charles Taylor back to Liberia, where he will face trial for crimes against humanity, and the Guinea worm, one of the most revolting parasites around, is being pushed towards extinction. (If I'm not mistaken, the "Sergyaran worm plague" in the works of Lois McMaster Bujold was loosely based on the Guinea worm. Nasty critter.)

Elsewhere, Japundit laments the vanishing ninja. (It may be noteworthy, however, that the webcomic Catharsis still features a rather inept ninja kitty.)
