Trying Too Hard
Feb. 7th, 2006 01:43 pmIt's rather cold out today.
I was a little late getting out the door this noon. I was about a block's distance from the bus stop, around a corner, when I saw the bus coming. I broke into a lumbering run (It's cold, remember? You try sprinting in a heavy jacket.) but to no avail. I was still half a block behind when the driver passed the stop, and he didn't see me waving. I rumbled to a stop and stood there wheezing for a while before turning around and heading home. No sense waiting; the next bus wasn't for another hour.
Did I mention how cold it is? Cold enough that running is not a good idea?
I've been coughing and hacking since I got back. I called the office about half an hour ago to cancel my classes. I'm not sick, exactly, but my throat is pretty raw, and I'm not up to almost three straight hours of lecturing.
Bah.
