I believe I will class that as an interesting experiment.
I took a false step almost at the start; I had not noticed that the recipe had a use for the shells of the shrimp (for making the broth), and so purchased already-shelled shrimp. I made do with chicken broth. There were a few other points where I had to deviate from the recipe, and I'm not sure whether I made the right choices. The individual tastes came out well enough, but they didn't blend all that well. I ate about a quarter of it, and put the rest into a casserole dish to sit in the fridge. We'll see how it tastes tomorrow. But in any case I don't think I'll try paella again.
I'm sitting here eating Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk, by way of dessert, and thinking about the things I have to be thankful for. There are many. To those of you who celebrate the day, happy Thanksgiving!
