Last Monday, in Calc II, I announced that there would be a review session on Friday and a midterm on the following Monday - i.e., tomorrow.

On Wednesday, at the end of class, I repeated this information, and urged the students to think about what they weren't sure of, so as to ask appropriate questions at the review session.

On Friday, we conducted the review; I gave them a brief overview of what knowledge and skills they would be tested on, and opened the floor for questions.

Ten minutes ago, I got a phone call.
"Hello, my name is ____, and I'd like to know if there will be a test next week."
"Which class?"
"Calculus II."
...

I don't take attendance. I assume my students are adults, and expect them to make their own decisions and to live with the consequences. I hope ____ is willing to live with the results of his choices.

Addendum: I'm not absolutely sure about the voice identification, but someone who sounded a lot like ____ called me a couple of hours later to confirm that the test would be Monday - and another SWSALL_ called me after the test to ask what happens when you miss a test.
