Spam-blocking
Jul. 26th, 2004 11:50 amMy employer recently began using a spam-blocking service. It evaluates incoming mail and assigns a probability that it is spam; if the probability is high enough, the service puts a block on the offending mail. Periodically, each user receives a message from the service listing those items which have been blocked recently; we are given the option of releasing or deleting them. On several recent occasions, perfectly innocuous messages to me have been blocked, so I have adopted the habit of visiting the service's site regularly (rather than waiting to be notified).
I just did so. There were half a dozen messages in the "blocked" folder. One of them - with about an 89% chance of being spam - was the service's list of recently blocked messages.
I have to wonder about their criteria.
