On Listening to Enya
Jul. 3rd, 2004 04:57 pmI have a couple of problems with Enya. Listening to one of her albums straight through, I tend to zone out; the songs blur together. This is compounded by the fact that I find it hard to attach the song titles to the songs. There are some obvious exceptions, like "Orinoco Flow", "Only Time", or "Pilgrim"; but how on Earth am I supposed to remember what "Ebudae" and "Smaointe" are?
Putting those albums into my playlists is the answer to both problems. Oh, I'm still having trouble tagging the titles to the songs, but the blurring is gone. Transitioning from the Zombies' "Tell Her No" to "Flora's Secret" (one of my favorites of hers); from "Dancing in the Dark" to "Fallen Embers"; from "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" to "Only Time" - these truly intensify the experience.
This is fun.
