Done, and done, and done
May. 6th, 2004 07:57 pmThe finals have been graded. The grades have been handed in. The Situation has resolved itself painlessly. (Well, except for the blisters and the backache, but those were minor and short-lived.)
I find that I don't know what to do with myself.

Tuesday morning, just before one of the finals, I was complaining about the fact that Murphy has gotten it into his head that feeding time is 3:00 AM. I described my unsuccessful efforts to push the time towards a more reasonable hour. One of my students then suggested putting out the food the night before.
I was tempted to give her an immediate 'A'. I have gotten much better sleep the last couple of nights...

Last night's episode of Angel was... well, it was to Angel what "Teacher's Pet" was to Buffy. Silly, contrived situations; embarrassing dialogue; lousy special effects - it was just awful. "Teacher's Pet", though, was the fourth episode of a new series that had yet to find its feet. "The Girl in Question" was the 108th episode of a series that appears to have lost its feet. I don't understand this season. There've been several good episodes, and "Smile Time" was absolutely hilarious; why would they put out this piece of garbage, as one of the final three episodes of the series? Yes, it gave some sort of closure to the Spike/Buffy/Angel triangle, but good Lord almighty, did they have to do it that way? Eeuucchh!
The Wesley/Illyria/Burkles scenes were interesting, but jarring against the sitcom-y slapstick of the rest of the episode. Here's hoping they put the comedy aside for the last two. Humor, maybe, but keep the general mood serious. (Who, who has seen it, can forget the Mayor saying, "Well, gosh!", in "Graduation Day, Part 2" on Buffy? But that was a deadly serious episode nevertheless. That's the way to do it, folks.)
