Dogs really don't like tile. Loss of traction. Much worse if they are having control problems. Dogs who love the chase game will run, come to the edge of the carpet, stop, proceed sedately after the object.
I walk a neighbor's dog - 17 or so - impressive for a medium+ sized dog. Nearly blind, nearly deaf, has balance problems, can't do hills as well as we, nearly 70, can. Her range has shortened each of the last few years, but in the first year she lost maybe 20-30% of her weight, and improved markedly in condition. She is dragging at the end of 2 mile walks now, but still enthusiastically heads for the door every time I show up.
Likes her rump scratched and goes into a St Vitus dance of joy every time it happens. Can't do it on tile. She falls down on tile occasionally without help. Has given her people a few serious scares, but has recovered.
I admit, Murphy's loss of appetite is worrisome, particularly given his opportunism with Ben's priorities.
